What is the difference between face matching and liveness?

A matching face and a live capture provide different evidence.

Face matching

Face matching compares facial evidence with an identity reference. Resemblance alone does not show that the capture came from a live person or an authentic camera path.

Liveness and capture integrity

Liveness assesses evidence of a live subject. Presentation attack detection and camera-integrity checks address other risks such as photos, replays or substituted feeds. Their effectiveness depends on the deployed models, capture pipeline and validation.

Use the combined decision

Let the configured backend apply its full verification policy. Do not approve a flow solely because a face match appears strong. The anti-spoofing guide illustrates how different signals contribute to an assessment.
